Soliton-complex Dynamics in Strongly Dispersive Medium

چکیده
The concept of soliton complex in a nonlinear dispersive medium is proposed. It is shown that strongly interacting identical topological solitons in the medium can form bound soliton complexes which move without radiation. This phenomenon is considered to be universal and applicable to various physical systems. The soliton complex and its ”excited” states are described analytically and numerically as solutions of nonlinear dispersive equations with the fourth and higher order spatial or mixed derivatives. The dispersive sine-Gordon, double and triple sine-Gordon, and piecewiselinear models are studied in detail. Mechanisms and conditions of the formation of soliton complexes, and peculiarities of their stationary dynamics are investigated. A phenomenological approach to the description of the complexes and the classification of all the possible complex states are proposed. Some examples of physical systems, where the phenomenon can be experimentally observed, are briefly discussed. PACS number(s): 02.70.-c, 03.40.Kf, 47.20.Ky, 47.35.+i, 62.30.+d.

Soliton dynamics and scattering
A survey of results and problems of soliton dynamics in dispersive and hyperbolic nonlinear PDE’s and the related spectral and scattering theory. I focus on the problem of large time behavior of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, with both solitary and radiative waves appearing in the solution. The equations are nonintegrable in general and in arbitrary dimension. I will formulate the main con...

We construct non dispersive two soliton solutions to the three dimensional gravitational Hartree equation whose trajectories asymptotically reproduce the nontrapped dynamics of the gravitational two body problem.
متن کاملSoliton and rogue wave statistics in supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fibre with two zero dispersion wavelengths
Stochastic numerical simulations are used to study the statistical properties of supercontinuum spectra generated in photonic crystal fibre with two zero dispersion wavelengths. For picosecond pulse excitation, we examine how the statistical properties of solitons generated on the long wavelength edge of the supercontinuum (“optical rogue waves”) are modified by energy transfer to dispersive wa...
متن کاملSpectral-discrete solitons and localization in frequency space.
We report families of discrete optical solitons in frequency space, or spectral-discrete solitons existing in a dispersive Raman medium, where individual sidebands are coupled by coherence. The associated time-domain patterns correspond either to trains of ultrashort pulses or to weakly modulated waves. We describe the physics behind the spectral localization and study soliton bifurcations, sta...
متن کاملDark Optical Solitons: Physics and Applications
We present a detailed overview of the physics and applications of optical dark solitons: localized nonlinear waves (or ‘holes’) existing on a stable continuous wave (or extended finite-width) background. Together with the traditional problems involving properties of dark solitons of the defocusing cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation, we also describe recent theoretical results on optical vorte...
